Lubna Jerar Naqvi 

Lubna Jerar Naqvi is a journalist, social media expert, social media security trainer for journalists, women's rights activist, gender and harassment trainer, and media trainer. She has worked in print, electronic, and social media over the course of her more than 25-year career. She is an advocate for human rights, with a focus on women's and children's rights, and has brought attention to many problems in Pakistan on both the national and international levels.

She is currently the IFJ’s Pakistan Gender Coordinator and Trainer, the social media and gender safety trainer for the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), and an IFJ Council Member for Gender 2022-2025.

She also serves as the Vice President of the Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) and is a member of the Pakistan Federal Union for Journalists (PFUJ). She has also been a researcher for the 2014-15 UNESCO-IFJ Gender Report Asia-Pacific: Media through a Gender Lens. Lubna is also the first woman from Pakistan to win the South Asia Laadli Media & Advertising Award for Gender Sensitivity in 2015 for her work in the media industry.

With a law degree, Lubna Jerar Naqvi chose media as a tool to highlight the challenges women and children face in Asia, specifically Pakistan. As a correspondent from Pakistan, she has written stories and features for a number of national and international websites.

To share her knowledge and on-field experience with young and aspiring journalists and media professionals, she regularly conducts workshops and training sessions to prepare the youth for challenges in the media and provide them with insights on how to safely report sensitive news and stories. She mentors young journalists, especially women journalists in Pakistan, and is affiliated as a mentor and trainer with the Global Neighborhood for Media Innovation (GNMI).

She has attended the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University, the Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ), the East-West Center Reporting on Cross-Border, and MOOCs (massive open online courses) at the University of Texas' Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas.

Lubna has also trained as fact-checker and has taken courses with CEJ & International Fact-Checking Network’s (IFCN); Truth-Tracker and worked on several cross-border fact-checking stories.
