Jeremy Collymore is an Independent Consultant and Honorary Research Fellow, Institute of Sustainable Development (ISD), UWI. A Geographer with training in Environmental Design and Planning, he served as the Executive Director of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) from 1991 until 2013. He has enjoyed over 30 years of service in the field of Disaster Risk Management,functioning in various capacities that involved research; teaching; programme design, implementation and review; policy development and operations management.

As the Head of CDEMA, he guided and influenced disaster management policy, planning and practice in 18 Caribbean States through interfacing with political and technical officials and international development partners.

He has served on a diversity of national, regional and international working groups and task forces focusing on enhancing capacity building, partnership management and policy implementation. His prior appointments included lecturer and visiting lecturer in the Department of Geography at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica; Assistant to the Director in the Centre for Resource Management and Environmental Studies, UIW, Barbados, Disaster Specialist in UNDRO (now UN OCHA) at the Pan Caribbean Disaster and Prevention Project, Antigua and Barbuda.

His work has been global including South America, the Caribbean, Seychelles, Uganda, South Pacific and Central America.

He has written, published and presented extensively in the area of Disaster Management and Climate Change Adaptation. In 2013 the University of the West Indies designated him as Honorary Research Fellow in its Institute for Sustainable Development.
